May 8, 2007

  1. Tobacco-Free Campus policy recommendation (45 minutes)
    1. Approved by ASCOCC 5-0, but student government has no formal authority for creating campus policies
    2. First step in formal governance process is a discussion within the Student Affairs Committee

i. Read the policy

ii. Gather points of concern

iii. Gather points for support

iv. Summarize information collected at the meeting

v. Designate a point person to contact for more information

vi. Post policy on Staff Commlines, Student News, Classified and other public folders

    1. Second step is to forward policy and summary information to Institutional Support Committee
    2. Institutional Support Committee to have first and second readings of the policy
    3. Institutional Support Committee will make recommendation to President
    4. President can support, veto or send back to committee structure for further discussion
    5. Policy could go to Board of Directors, but does not have to

  1. Student Needs Survey Questionnaire (10 minutes)

a. Review document (see attached)

b. Suggest timeline

c. What to do with results?

  1. COCC Distinguished Student Service Award (5 minutes) - Closed to public

a. Review nominations

b. Decide on recipient
